DESCRIPTION

In the same family as the Sunfish, my physical appearance is reminiscent of these fish. I also have a very high and laterally compressed body. I'm pretty pale, ranging from silver to cream, and I marked with spots or black flecks of varying size.

Our mating season extends from spring to summer. Males prepare nests, then monitor these until hatching and beyond.

Despite the fact that our distribution is not very large, we are considered very common fish in Québec.
