DESCRIPTION

A catfish? In fact I am a Brown Bullhead! My barbs are dark and therefore quite visible. Despite my name which speaks of color, I can be partially or even totally yellow. That said, our typical coloration is muddy or dark brown, almost black even.

We breed from spring to early summer and we care for our young for several weeks after hatching. It is not uncommon to find us swimming surrounded by a cloud of small fish!

We are quite common and even abundant is certain regions.
