DESCRIPTION

I am originally from Asia, but I was widely introduced in many places around the world! I am often recognized for the small barbs on each side of my mouth, though often only the longest, which is the closest to my mouth, is visible!

Our breeding season extends from spring to early summer. You can then see us near the surface splashing about as we dance to impress!

I am considered an invasive exotic species : we are quite numerous in the Saint-Lawrence river and its principal calm water estuaries.
