DESCRIPTION

I am very popular among anglers! My size, impressive as it is, as well as my combative nature attract fishermen and make me a favoured catch. In order to recognize me just remember that my body is fusiform and slightly compressed laterally. My coloring is quite variable, ranging from gray to olive green even to different tones of brown.

Our breeding season extends from spring to summer. The male prepares the nest at the bottom of the shallow water in the muddy ground, and it is he who will monitor the young after hatching. After our first encouter we display a nuptial dance composed of embraces and sometimes even bites!

The Largemouth Bass is quite common in southern Québec.
