Conservation in action: Protect the Brown Snake's habitats

August 20th, 2015, by Ecomuseum Zoo
The Ecomuseum Zoo is pleased to count on financial support from the Fondation Hydro-Québec pour l’environnement to the order of $40,860 for a conservation project aimed at protecting the habitats of the most urban of Québec’s reptiles: the Brown Snake.
Initiate activities to raise awareness

In order to raise awareness of the importance of maintaining the species in each of the targeted Nature Parks and to protect their natural environments, concrete educational actions will be undertaken.

To do this educational panels will be installed in each of the three Nature Parks and a campaign will be launched to distribute educational material to residents in targeted municipalities.

This project is part of a larger initiative to better protect and highlight the importance of reptile habitats in the Greater Montréal Area.

Since its inception, the Conservation and Applied Research department of the Ecomuseum Zoo has worked diligently to ensure populations of rare and endangered reptiles are better known and protected. Thanks to the support of its varied partners, these efforts will continue for years to come.

We'll keep you in the loop about the results to come! Stay tuned!
